Annual General Meeting 2021

Only the executive members were present for the 2021 Annual General Meeting held on 30th November 2021. Due to fears of the propagation of the Delta and Omicron variants, members were given the option to vote by proxy. A copy of the President’s Report and the 2020 accounts were mailed together with a voting form. Some 20 members preferred the vote by proxy.

NSIF Grant

The project was completed in November 2021. Thanks to the funding of Rs300,000 provided by the NSIF, Sponsor A Child was able to provide monthly allowances to 31 students and one off donations to support students who experienced financial difficulties following the death of one of their parents.
Valuable lessons were learnt from this partnership. Our processes for receipting and getting new students on board were modified.

In Memory

It was with great sadness that we learnt, on 28 October 2021, the passing of Mrs Chandranee Bhuckory, Sponsor A Child’s founder and Vice-President.
We will remember Mrs Bhuckory for her kindness and her generosity.  As  one of the founding members of Sponsor A Child in 2004, she worked tirelessly at the helm of the organisation to establish it firmly.

Our Annual General Meeting was held on 22 October 2020. More than twenty members were present on the day and the assembly welcomed 9 new members. The President, Mr Navindranath Hooloomann mentioned that 120 students across 50 schools were supported in 2019 in spite of a drop in corporate funding.
